Short itinerary

Day 1: Monkey Island

  • Arrival in Puerto Maldonado, the biodiversity capital of Peru. Airport pick-up and city tour by bus.
  • Boat trip from Capitanía port on the Madre de Dios River, spotting capybaras, caimans, turtles, herons, cormorants, and more.
  • Arrival at Ecoamazonia Lodge with a welcome drink, bungalow check-in, and lunch.
  • Afternoon visit to Monkey Island to see different monkey species and other wildlife. Enjoy sunset views before dinner back at the lodge.

Day 2: Lost Cocha

  • Breakfast followed by a trek into the virgin jungle to reach Lost Cocha, a rich ecosystem home to otters, caimans, turtles, tapirs, colorful birds, the majestic jaguar, and many fish.
  • Climb a lookout tower for panoramic views, then enjoy a canoe ride around the lake.
  • Return to the lodge for lunch. Optional afternoon visit to the botanical gardens or relax at the Amazon pool before dinner.

Day 3: Gamitana River

  • After breakfast, journey through the jungle and navigate along the Gamitana River, observing turtles, caimans, birds, and a variety of insects.
  • Opportunity for fishing and a quick swim in the river. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4: Puerto Maldonado

  • Breakfast at the lodge and transfer to the Puerto Maldonado airport.

This 4-day eco-adventure in Puerto Maldonado begins with your arrival and a brief city tour before setting off by boat down the Madre de Dios River. As you glide through the jungle, watch for capybaras, caimans, turtles, herons, and other wildlife. Upon arriving at Ecoamazonia Lodge, enjoy a welcome drink and lunch.
