Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Before the ceremony
On arrival, participants complete a medical questionnaire that carefully evaluates their physical condition, ensuring safety and alignment with the ceremony. After signing the form, there is a private preliminary meeting with the shaman. This conversation helps the shaman understand your physical and emotional state and your intentions for seeking the Ayahuasca experience. This initial trust-building sets the foundation for deep inner work during the ceremony.
The rest of the day is for mental and emotional preparation, staying calm at your hotel and reflecting on the intentions you wish to set for your spiritual journey.
Day 2: The day of the ceremony
The ceremony begins around 7:00 PM in the Sacred Valley under the guidance of an experienced shaman. About 30 minutes after drinking the sacred medicine, most participants feel a shift—changes in body perception, mild disorientation, or sensations akin to being lightly intoxicated. This is often followed by purging (vomiting or diarrhea), which cleanses the body, though some people feel simply relaxed without purging, depending on their diet, emotional state, and overall health.
As the medicine takes hold, participants enter a trance state, experiencing visions that may explore their personal lives, cosmic connections, or deep interactions with Pachamama (Mother Earth). The effects last about three and a half hours. Those who fully respected the dietary and mental preparation often have deeper visionary experiences. After the ceremony, participants typically rest until morning, held in a safe and supportive environment.
Day 3: After the ceremony
The following morning includes a private integration session with the shaman to review everything that occurred during the ceremony. This is a time to explore your overall state, interpret any visions, and clarify insights or remaining questions. This thoughtful integration ensures participants leave feeling supported and clear about their journey ahead. After this closing, guests return to Cusco, carrying new wisdom and emotional healing.
