Short itinerary
Day 1: Uros – Amantani
- Depart from Puno by comfortable boat (30 minutes) to visit two of the Uros floating islands.
- Continue by boat for about 2.5 hours to Amantani Island, arriving around midday and receiving a warm welcome from local families.
- Walk uphill for about 30 minutes to reach local homes where you’ll have a typical Andean lunch and time to rest.
- In the afternoon, hike to the top of the island to visit the Inca ceremonial temples of Pachamama and Pachatata and enjoy an unforgettable sunset over Lake Titicaca.
- Return for dinner with your host family. In the evening, take part in a welcome party (optional) where you can dance and dress in local attire, accompanied by traditional musicians.
Day 2: Amantani – Taquile – Puno
- Enjoy a typical breakfast, then walk down to the port of Amantani at 8:00 am to board the boat to Taquile Island.
- Upon arrival, hike uphill to the main square to learn about Taquile’s famous textile art and local customs.
- Have lunch on the island, then descend to the port around 1:00 pm for the return trip to Puno.
- Arrive back in Puno at approximately 4:00 pm.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Uros – Amantani
Your adventure begins with a boat trip from the port of Puno, taking just 30 minutes to reach the unique Uros floating islands. Here, you’ll visit two islands and learn from your bilingual guide about the fascinating lifestyle of the Uros people, who have lived on these handmade totora reed platforms for centuries.
After exploring the Uros, continue your journey by boat for about 2.5 hours across the deep blue waters of Lake Titicaca to reach Amantani Island. Arriving around midday, you’ll be warmly greeted by local families who will host you during your stay. Together with them, take a gentle uphill walk of around 30 minutes to reach their homes, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Andean lunch and have time to rest.
In the afternoon, set off on a scenic hike to the highest point of the island to visit the Inca ceremonial temples of Pachamama and Pachatata. Here, you’ll witness breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Titicaca and, if the weather is clear, one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Later, return to your host family’s home for dinner.
In the evening, the families will organize an optional welcome party where you can dance, wear traditional clothing, and enjoy music performed by local musicians—a delightful way to experience the culture firsthand.
Day 2: Amantani – Taquile – Puno
Start the day with a typical breakfast before heading down to the port of Amantani at around 8:00 am. Board the boat for a short trip to Taquile Island, renowned for its vibrant textile art recognized by UNESCO.
Upon arrival, take a walk uphill to the main square where your guide will explain more about the local customs and show you the intricate woven products that depict daily life and history. Enjoy lunch on the island and take some final photos of this charming community before descending to the port at about 1:00 pm.
Return by boat to Puno, arriving at approximately 4:00 pm, ending a magical journey through Lake Titicaca’s most culturally rich islands—an experience filled with warm hospitality, stunning views, and deep traditions.
