Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Puno – Uros Islands
This full-day experience begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Puno at around 8:45 am. You’ll then be transferred to the port where you’ll board a motorized boat to start your journey across the stunning waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Your destination: the remarkable floating islands of the Uros.

The Uros community has lived on these small, man-made islands for centuries. They skillfully harvest totora, a type of reed that grows in the lake, and bundle it by its roots to create the platforms that form their islands. Known as “children of the mother lake,” the Uros add new layers of totora daily to keep their islands afloat. Their homes and boats are also constructed from this versatile plant.

During your visit, you’ll have the chance to explore the islands, visit typical houses and souvenir stands, and learn about their incredible way of life directly from the locals. You can also take an optional ride on a traditional reed boat for a small extra cost, or dress in their colorful traditional clothing for memorable photos with the islanders.

After experiencing the hospitality and fascinating culture of the Uros, you’ll return by boat to Puno, wrapping up a day rich with history, tradition, and stunning lake views.
