Detailed itinerary

The Andean Baroque Route tour begins at 08:00 a.m.. We drive south from Cusco for about one hour, arriving at the Chapel of the Virgen Purificada de Canincunca, built over a pre-Inca Wari settlement by Urcos Lake. This chapel is a hidden gem that combines history and devotion.

Next, only minutes away, we visit the Temple of Saint John the Baptist of Huaro. This church holds more than 60 sculptures, 50 canvases of exceptional quality, and silverwork adorning its altarpieces and furniture. It is considered one of the artistic treasures of the region.

Our third stop is the Saint Peter the Apostle Temple of Andahuaylillas, often called the “Sistine Chapel of the Andes.” Its interiors reflect Mudejar influences, with polychrome ceilings, an ornate triumphal arch, and remarkable canvases dedicated to Saint Peter the Apostle, the town’s patron saint.

Finally, upon returning to Cusco around 12:30 p.m., we visit the Temple of the Society of Jesus. Built in 1576 over the Inca Amaru Cancha temple and reconstructed after the 1650 earthquake, it features magnificent cedar wood altars covered in gold leaf and an impressive collection of sculptures and Cusco School paintings.
